What is "jazz in the field"?
Actually it's "jazz in the field 2"
Our first event in July 2007 was a HUGE success and this year’s event is going to be bigger and better as we once again look to raise funds to support the Bridgend (Coity) branch of the Riding for the Disabled Association.
There are more details elsewhere on this site about everything connected with the event but what you need to know now is that it’ll be held on:
at Longacre Farm, Coity, Nr Bridgend, CF35 6BN.
Gates open at 6.00pm with the music starting at 8.00 pm.
You also need to know that come rain (hopefully not) or shine (hopefully yes!) the event goes ahead because if it’s wet we’ll simply move everything into the Indoor Riding School.
This year’s event is part of RDA (Coity) Branch’s 40th Birthday celebrations and is dedicated to the late Barbara Ladbrooke who, together with her husband John, founded the group in 1969.
And the Jazz?
Yes, big band jazz from the Park Lane Big Band. They play big band music from the Miller/Ellington era right through to contemporary music by the likes of Tom Kubis and Gordon Goodwin. There'll be music to listen to early on and then, once it's got dark, music to dance to too.
Where's the field?
It’s at Longacre Farm in Coity near Bridgend and its all being done properly! There's a free car park on the farm, flood lighting for after dark, loos and - best of all - a self contained 'auditorium' area for the audience. All you need to bring is your picnic and a blanket (or maybe some camping or garden chairs) to sit on. If it rains everything will be moved indoors into the indoor riding school (complete with specially erected marquee) and the show will go on!
Why are we holding “jazz in the field”?
It's a charity fund raising event for the Bridgend (Coity) branch of the Riding for the Disabled Association. Like so many charities, it relies entirely on its own fundraising efforts to keep going. We need you and your friends to support this event, please! If you want to do it in real style, why not bring along a gazebo or a garden table and chairs as your base?
Times?
The gates open at 6.00 pm for people who want to either put up gazebos or to bring their table and chairs. The music begins at 8.00 pm and finishes at 11.00 pm.
Tickets?
You can buy them either direct from this site or one of the outlets we've got around Bridgend. There are more details in the tickets section of this site.
What else?
Just one thing: Please note that for health and safety reasons no barbeques (of any size or shape) or naked flames of any sort are permitted at this event.
