When it comes to events like "jazz In The field" it appears that the Park Lane Big Band seems to specialise in events like this. "Well it's true, we have done quite a few of these events over the years" says band leader Dave Pegler. "They're always great fun to do and the players always look forward to them. The 2007 event was fantastic and it’s great to be back again for 2009".

We asked Dave what we could expect in the band's programme. "Early on, whilst people are having their picnics, it'll be concert style material - music to listen to. I remember playing amongst others Dave Brubeck's 'Blue Rondo a la Turk', Sammy Nestico’s ‘Hayburner’ and Maynard Ferguson’s fantastic arrangement of ‘MacArthur Park’. We’ve added quite a few a few tunes to our repertoire in the last two years so there’s bound to be something for everyone to enjoy. Once we get to the second half and everyone’s had their picnic we’ll get going with the dance tunes. We filled the dance floor last time and we’ll fill it again!”
